OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY

Equipment

MARS lab is equipped with a large number of remote sensing devices as well as with significant computational abilities. The lab hosts three unmanned aerial systems that are equipped with laser scanning devices (Zenmuse L1 and Velodyne Puck), as well as two terrestrial laser scanners. The lab also operates a light UAS, DJI Mavic 2, for initial project assessments. The lab acquires multispectral imagery using a Micasesnse Rededge sensor. The point clouds and imagery are processed and analyzed using powerful computers, each equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5950X CPU, 128 GB RAM, and at least a Nvidia 3080 GPU.

The lab uses several commercial software packages to produce point clouds and imagery ready for analyses:

  • point cloud processing: TerraSolid, LP360, QTM
  • photogrammetric point clouds: Agisoft Metashape
  • remote sensing dedicated: ERDAS and ENVI
